SERVICES THAT WE OFFER

ur corporation mainly offers supervision services of the adoption process regarding the United States and Guatemala. This supervision consists of assessing each of the steps incurred during an adoption. Such service is undertaken by the professional and expert team of Adoption Supervisors.

Our range of services includes the following:
• Information of the adoption process in Guatemala;
• Evaluation and assessment of a specific adoption process;
• Diagnosis, supervision, and follow-up of a specific adoption case;
• Counseling provided to the Notary or agency in charge of the adoption case in order to achieve its completion.

It is important to assess every case, exchange general information of the situation, problems, or simply assess doubts that the family has regarding the adoption process. The first assessment as well as the entire process is confidential. After exchanging information, we will determine the correct way to proceed in order to help our clients. Once the family has hired us, the first step is to clarify and understand all the regulations of the Guatemalan and American laws related to the adoption process.

Understanding each step of the process, its implications, risks, reasonable delay terms, authorities involved, experience with previous cases, among others, is important for the future exchanging information. We firmly believe that time should be invested in each step so that the family will have reliable information in order to overcome all obstacles during the process.

Secondly, we have to pinpoint a given case during each step of the process by means of a field investigation; determine where the case is physically located at a given institution and issue a report. (Take into account that an adoption process might be advanced at the same time at the American Embassy in Guatemala as well as in the local Family Courts).

Once the case is identified and located, the family will be awarded an assessment of the updated case and its perspectives for the future. The assessment will be confidential and it will contain a series of recommendations regarding each particular case.

Counseling provided by the corporation includes follow-ups of the case until its completion if it is possible to do so. During the development of the case, Adoption Supervisors will accompany, directly or indirectly, all the Attorneys in charge of the case in Guatemala where we strive for sharing experiences, promoting the development of the case within the institutions and, above all, providing accurate information related to the process. We believe that each case will be completed successfully if all the interested parties are united for the purpose of concluding and adoption process.

It is important to have total cooperation of the family during the exchange of information. Adoption Supervisors, united with the family, will propose a strategy in order to proceed with a given case taking into account all elements such as the identity of the Attorneys in charge of the case, the agency in charge of the adoption, general information of the birthmother or the Home that consents for a case of abandonment, origins of the minor, convenience of our intervention in an open manner or not, etc.

• Update of changes regarding pertinent laws.
Our corporation and Attorneys have a constant relationship with the primary Institutions related to adoptions in Guatemala. Our corporation will provide follow-up measures to possible amendments to the pertinent laws in adoption through lobbying procedures at the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala as well as other related institutions. Moreover, we keep our clients up-to-date of any possible amendment in relation to the procedures of American laws related to adoptions.

• Advise regarding the adoption process, dossier, INS documents, etc.
It is important to know that our corporation is not limited only to counseling families whose cases have already begun. We also collaborate with them during the first stages of the process by means of exchanging information. We have witnessed that many cases fail to achieve completion because of faulty dossier documents or the manner in which they arrive to Guatemala. This is translated into a waste of valuable time such as days, weeks, or months.

• Evaluation of agencies and recommendations.
We are not an adoption agency even though the associate firms have worked with them. In this sense, we suggest an adoption agency with which a family might work based upon our previous experience with them. Nevertheless, we will inform our client of the benefits and contradictions of working with a certain agency based upon our experience working with it.
• Recommendations regarding the contract with an adoption agency in the USA.

Once the family has decided on contracting an agency for the processing of their adoption case, we will provide counseling for elaborating the contract with an agency.
